BREAKING: Visa Puts USDC Into Live Global Payments — 24/7 Stablecoin Funding Opens Across 180+ Countries
Visa has moved its stablecoin work from testing into live business use. On October 15, the payments giant launched commercial USDC funding for cross-border payouts through Visa Direct, with payments firm Inyo Global as the first company to switch the service on for its clients.
In simple words, eligible banks, fintech companies, money transmitters and payment providers can now top up the money behind their international payouts with USDC in near real time, at any hour of the day or night. That matters because cross-border payments normally depend on bank opening hours and cut-off times. Clients reach the new option through the Inyo connections they already use, and the person receiving the money does not have to hold USDC — the stablecoin works behind the scenes at the funding stage.
The reach is large from day one. Inyo's platform supports payouts across more than 180 countries through Visa Direct, although Visa has not confirmed that stablecoin funding itself is open in every one of those markets. The launch follows two stablecoin pilots Visa ran through Visa Direct in 2025, one for prefunding and one for payouts. Reports on the launch put Visa's stablecoin volume at roughly a $20 billion yearly run rate after a strong surge in use.
For traders, this is another sign that stablecoins are becoming working money for the biggest payment networks, not just tokens that sit on exchanges. Steady payment use can support ongoing demand for USDC and deeper dollar liquidity across crypto markets. It also raises the pressure on rival card networks and stablecoin firms that are all racing to handle more of the world's cross-border money movement.
There are still limits to watch. Access depends on customer eligibility and local rules in each market, and Visa has not published a full country-by-country list or cost details. Traders will now watch whether more processors follow Inyo, how fast funding volumes grow, and whether other big payment firms answer with live stablecoin launches of their own.
