88 out of every 100 big companies have already rolled out tokenized money or are testing it right now. That is the headline number from a DBS survey of 422 business and finance leaders, and it tells traders one plain thing: tokenized cash has moved past talk about pilots and into real company treasuries.
Key points:
- 88% of firms with more than $500 million in yearly revenue have deployed or are piloting tokenized money, DBS found.
- Stablecoins lead the pack at 63%, ahead of tokenized deposits at 53% and tokenized money market funds at 52%.
- Roughly two in three firms have it live at scale or running in at least some locations, not just on a slide deck.
In June and July, DBS polled leaders from 11 markets, including the US, the UK, Australia, China and Germany. The firms in the survey all pull in more than $500 million a year. Lim Soon Chong, the bank's group head of global transaction services, said adoption is moving faster than most people expected, with firms chasing better control of their cash and a way into new markets.
Stablecoins came out on top for a simple reason, in Lim's words: they move more easily across different payment firms, not just across banks, and they come with fewer permission headaches. Tokenized deposits and tokenized money market funds sit close behind, which suggests firms are not betting on one tool alone — they are trying the whole shelf at once.

What does this mean for stablecoins?
For traders, the survey reads less like a price call and more like a demand signal. Southeast Asia was the top place firms named for expanding into new markets, followed by Australia and New Zealand, with India third. That lines up with the string of stablecoin payment and settlement deals landing in Asia and Latin America this month, and it gives the next wave of bank announcements a clear place to watch.
My own read is this: do not read 88% as everyone being all in. A pilot is not the same as moving real payroll through a stablecoin, so watch how much money actually moves, not just how many firms tick a survey box. If the next round of bank results shows tokenized payment volumes climbing, that is the number that will move crypto prices, not this headline alone.
